What Are Your True Motives? || Proverbs 21:2 (ESV) || Short Bible Verses
Proverbs 21:2 (ESV) reminds us that “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.”
Sometimes we do things that we know are blatantly wrong but what about when you do something good even something religious with a selfish motive. Proverbs twenty-one verse two says all the ways of men seem right to him but the Lord evaluates the motives if we look at the life of Jesus he took pity on the people who were the worst. Of the worst. If they repented and believed in him.
He gave them grace toward the Pharisees however Jesus hap righteous anger. They follow the law but they did it for the wrong reasons throughout the New Testament they are called lovers of money and hypocrites. Their hearts were hard. Even though they seemed to do. All the right things. But God is not impressed by our outward appearances. So what are your motives even your motives for doing religious things whose approval? Are you trying to gain? As you think over this question be truthful with yourself.
Let’s pray and ask God to search our hearts and change our motives. God your truth and justice. Your search. Our hearts and wait. Each of. Our motives. You’ll know exactly why we do what we do and you hate when we do things even good things. For our own gain but god you are. Also, love. nd mercy if I repent with a true heart he will forgive and show me your way. So please. Search my heart. It shows me where I am lacking dear god do not let me be content to act. Only for myself. Transformed heart and. All of my motives let. Everything I do before your glory and pleasure. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
